Turning Point - Discography |
] |
I've been in New York since Monday and it's been nice seeing a bunch of family that I haven't seen in a long time (one of my Mom's relatives hadn't seen me since the day I was born). When I left for the airport all the fires had just started so I hope Simi Valley isn't burned down when I return. The guy I sat next to on the plane was into Hardcore music so it was nice talking to someone who has heard of a lot of the bands I like. Speaking of bands I like, I got to see the Cro-Mags twice last week and also Gorilla Biscuits at a strange music fest. Besides hardcore bands, Strung-Out and some other pop-punk bands played too so it was a weird mix of people, but still cool. Today (the 17th, it's 1:00 AM here) is National Edge Day, and I heard that Matt Lang and Jon Carr are not drinking in honor of it. Special thanks to Jess for giving me a ride to the airport and to Marko for providing me a copy of Radio Silence to read on the plane. Anyone wanna pick me up on Tuesday Night when I fly home to Burbank?

| Two things I learned last night |
[01 Aug 2008|01:48pm] |
1. Jon Carr travels for 3 years and gives up 4:20.
2. If you don't go to Taco Bell the ghosts of your African ancestors will come after you.

| It's a sad day |

So it looks like Cali-House was taken down from Wikipedia as a Simi Valley Landmark. All I have to say is sometimes when you mess with people, unfortunate accidents happen and websites get shut down, you've been warned wikipedia. On a more positive note, I've finally got around to finishing my best and worst of 2007 list. I know it's a little late, but cut me some slack, it's only February.
Best TV Show: The Office
I know some people will say that 24, Prison Break or House are better but there's one thing those shows don't have going for them: I've never watched them, so how can I vote for a show I haven't seen?
Best Band: Betrayed
Positive Straight-edge music. Powerful without being super macho or militant.
Best Movie: Superbad
This movie should've won every Oscar.
Best Athlete: Lebron James
Even if you don't watch basketball, you've probably heard of this guy or dressed up like him for a party.
Worst TV Show: Grey's Anatomy
Simply for the fact that Ryan watched it every day for 6 months straight, I just couldn't take it anymore.
Worst Band: The entire group of bands on the Soundtrack to Across The Universe.
Worst Movie: Across The Universe
I like The Beatles just as much as the next guy but I couldn't stand this movie.
Worst Athlete: Kobe Bryant (just kidding Dan) I'll go with Barry Bonds who denied using Human Growth Hormones even though his head is now 3 times the size it used to be.

So I went to get my car smogged today and while I was waiting in line, this elderly man started talking to me. He told me that he was a World War II vet, that he was turning 90 soon and that his wife was 26 years younger than him. He talked a little bit about the war and said "I was down there in Okinawa fighting in battle and then they gave the call to drop the A-Bomb and saved our lives. Anyone who complains about us dropping the bomb needs to know what happens in a war. It's kill or be killed, baby."

| Joey, here's my irish drinking song. |
[17 Mar 2007|12:39pm] |
(Irish music in the background)
"Deliberately put your head in a mindless state Say without the crutch you can’t relate Intoxicated you do stupid things Things you don’t mean things you wish could be changed Drink it down, say it’s for the best Bottle in the hand just like all the rest Still you do it when you know it’s wrong But it’s what’s accepted so you feel strong
Tell me, is it really worth it? Fuck it, you turn your brain to shit My advice, why don`t you stop and think Please man, it’s ok not to drink
If drinking’s what it takes to be accepted I’d rather stay aware and be rejected I know what it takes to keep my head on straight Putting shit in my mind and body is not the way I don’t need the drugs, I don’t need a crutch My mind is all I’ll ever need to stay in touch You can laugh but you’ll get yours Reason an excuse for your pressure
Finally , you understand Drinking doesn’t make you a man"
My apologies to the drinkers out there. Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone.

I got an 87 on my midterm last week. Maybe there's something to be said for studying and partying at the same time. After all, Jordan used to do it.
